PRETZELS
1 pkg yeast 1 c warm water
¼ c sugar 2 T margarine, softened
1 tsp salt 3 ¼ c flour
Dissolve yeast in warm water using large mixing bowl.
Add sugar, margarine, salt, and 2 c flour.
Beat until smooth.
Stir in enough remaining flour to form stiff dough.
Knead until smooth and elastic.
Place in greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Punch dough down.
Preheat oven to 400.
Divide into 8 pieces.
Roll each into a 20” rope.
Shape and place on greased cookie sheet.
If salt is wanted – wet finger and run finger over pretzel.
Sprinkle with coarse salt.
Let rest 5 minutes.
Bake 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
